"We identify ourselves as somebody - I belong to this religion, this culture, this tradition, but we forget the basic identity that we are human beings. When that stands first and foremost, all other identities follow behind that. Then, I think we can achieve what we are really looking for."- His Holiness Sri Sri Ravishankar

A great spiritual leader who has taught the world and its people how to unlock the secrets of life through breath, will be in Auckland next fortnight.

His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Founder of the Bangalore based Art of Living Foundation, with chapters and branches in more than 150 countries, will address a public meeting at the Trusts Stadium in Henderson on April 5 and fulfill a number of engagements during his three-day stay here.

He travels around the globe, meeting world leaders and ordinary people, teaching them the Art of Living through love, peace and harmony, achieved through stress-free life, which in turn is achieved through proper breathing.

He continues to inspire an ever-expanding family of happy individuals, through his message of compassion, commitment to society and universal understanding of life.

Sri Ravi Shankar says breath plays an important role in our life, linking mind, body and the environment.

“Sudarshan Kriya is a rhythmic breathing process, using three different cycles of breath, sorting out the imbalances in the mind and the body. Your emotions and thoughts move in a particular rhythm. These rhythms arise from your Being, which has its own rhythm,” he says.

In Sudarshan Kriya, we get into the rhythm of our Being and see how Being permeates our emotions, thoughts, breath and our body.

Every cell of the body comes alive, releasing all the toxins and negative emotions stored in the past. Once again, we will be able to smile from our hearts.

Through simple breathing techniques and practical stress-elimination programmes, Sri Ravi Shankar has touched the lives of more than 45 million people, cutting across manmade barriers of caste, creed, race, nationality and religion.

He promotes global peace through regeneration of human values and motivates people to achieve self-awareness, joyful living and selfless service.

In private discussions and public addresses, Sri Ravi Shankar reinforces his message that all religions and spiritual traditions share common goals and values.

In his presence, one experiences a profound silence that is beyond words. People have found peace of mind, vibrant health and a deep understanding of their own nature.

His followers include the crème de la crème of high society as well as the poorest of the poor. In spite of his hectic schedule, he meets everyone untiringly listening, guiding and blessing. He brings a child-like innocence to wisdom and effortlessness in activity.

Sri Ravi Shankar is known as much for his profound wisdom as his zeal for service.
