Bhubaneswar (Orissa) : The spiritual guru on Sunday opposed to genetically modified crops and BT brinjals citing it is not good for the health of India.
The European Countries including France and America had banned production of Bt brinjal as the crop had adversely affected human body and caused serious diseases like cancer, he said.
It would be a great mistake to introduce the seeds in India without extensive research. He emphasised on organic farming.
Expressing strong resentment over the price rise Guruji said, "Something is seriously wrong somewhere or there is some malicious intention is working behind the unprecedented price rise."
He expressed that priority will be given to Odiya students but as we all are Indian, candidates from all the states will be selected in merit basis.
When asked on the Maoist activities, Art of Living Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said that the aim of eradicating misappropriation acceptable, but they should leave the path of violence.
Guruji invited the Maoist leaders to a discussion with him to resolve the issue peacefully. "I request the Maoists to talk to us and leave the path of violence.
Though the sole intention of the rebels is to work for the society, the path of violence which they have taken is not propr way. They should not kill police personnel who are only carrying out orders," said Guruji, who had successfully spoken to Maoists in Lalgarh and motivated them for negotiation with the government.
The spiritual guru ,founder of Art of Living is on a four-day visit to Orissa to participate in the celebration of 500 years of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's Orissa visit and to look into the development of the university.
