"We identify ourselves as somebody - I belong to this religion, this culture, this tradition, but we forget the basic identity that we are human beings. When that stands first and foremost, all other identities follow behind that. Then, I think we can achieve what we are really looking for."- His Holiness Sri Sri Ravishankar

The Art of Living Foundation Launches a Nationwide Initiative to Educate Parents and Train Teachers to Better Raise Children and Teenagers ;Parenting Workshops Provide Tools to Modify Negative Behavior; Train the Teacher Workshops Empower Teachers to Impart Lessons in Value Education

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) January 16, 2010 -- The Art of Living Foundation, an educational and humanitarian organization, today announced that it is conducting a series of parenting and teacher training workshops across the nation that are geared towards educating parents to help them gain a better understanding of their child’s behavior and engage with them in a positive manner. These workshops provide valuable insights about a child’s mind and resulting behavior enabling parents to use this knowledge to raise their children and teenagers in a manner that nurtures key human values and blossoms their personality.

“Know Your Child” and “Know Your Teen” are interactive workshops that give parents a glimpse into the minds of a child and a teenager; identify the root cause of a certain behavior and manage child raising challenges in a positive manner. These workshops will be conducted in Texas, Georgia, New York and New Jersey after having been successfully executed across 100 educational institutions in India. Internationally, more than 200,000 parents have been benefited through these two hour workshops where learning comes through an experiential manner.

“Parenting is a huge job for me. I often see sibling rivalry or there are times when my kids are stubborn and refuse to listen to me. However, having attended this workshop, I learned valuable insights into my child’s mind, and gained practical solutions for every single behavioral issue that I face. Now, I see the world through my child’s eyes and find parenting very fulfilling. I am less stressful, and more joyful,” said Julia Tang, parent who is Med from Harvard University.

Muralidhar Koteshwar, director of education, The Art of Living, India conducting these workshops in the US said, “As parents, many a time we do not understand why our child is exhibiting a given behavior whether it is restlessness, lack of focus, ADD or constant brawls. These workshops equip parents with tools to understand and address negative behavior, take corrective action effectively so that the lesson for the child comes across meaningfully.”

For the first time in the US, the Art of Living Foundation is also offering “Train the Teacher” Workshops that will train individuals to become qualified teachers of these parenting workshops with the goal of reaching out to local communities and educating more and more parents to strengthen the parent-child relationship. As parents become stress free, they are able to reinforce a positive relationship with their children and teenagers who can sustain their vitality and enthusiasm - even as they grow up - to become responsible individuals shaping a nation.
